At least 30 people were killed and 80 injured in a triple suicide bombing attack on a market day.
A triple suicide bombing on an island in Lake Chad yesterday killed at least 27 people, a Chadian security source said, in another apparent strike by Boko Haram.
In recent months, the Lake Chad region has been under regular terrorist attacks waged by Boko Haram. The first two blast were reportedly in the center of the market whilst the third was in a street where people were fleeing the initial two.
In a related development, troops have also destroyed Boko Haram terrorists camps Bulagaije and Disa, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State and recovered motorcycles, Dane guns and ammunitions. The attack [Al Jazeera report] targeted a busy market and was carried out by at least three female suicide bombers.
The joint operation of the four Lake Chad countries plus Benin has involved 8,700 soldiers, police and civilians. The Nigeria militants have this year expanded attacks into Cameroon, Chad and Niger, countries contributing troops to a regional force formed to wipe out the extremists.
He was number 58 on the list of the 100 most-wanted Boko Haram suspects, which was released earlier this year by the military.
The attack is believed to have been carried out by members of Islamist insurgent group Boko Haram, a Chadian military official, who asked to remain anonymous, told DPA.
