But what can anybody really do to make North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un feel that he had better not fire missiles anymore because Japan and the United States “will not tolerate it”. Japan also plans to increase its ships equipped with the Aegis missile defense system from four to eight around fiscal 2020. The sixth on Wednesday flew about 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) high and a distance of about 400 kilometers (245 miles), South Korean and Japanese officials said. The newspaper also said the ministry plans to speed up its work with the United States on developing the new SM-3 Block IIA interception missile, which has a greater range.

The North’s remarkable commitment to quickly launching the missiles, despite the failures, flies in the face of past practices, when scientists usually took their time after a bad launch to figure out what went wrong and make adjustments. He added that NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) had determined the launches did not pose a threat to North America. In response, he said, North Korea is willing to follow suit, regardless of what has happened in the past.

Saturday’s KCNA statement blamed the USA for ratcheting up tensions between the neighbours by sending weapons to South Korea.

South Korea and the USA condemned the launch as an unacceptable violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions.

According to the said report, one of the students who passed out of the institute includes Paek Chang-Ho who is the vice director of Scientific Research and Development Department of North Korea’s National Aerospace Development Administration.

The comments from the MEA came within days of publication of an article in the Qatar-based media outlet, which suggested that North Korean scientists benefited from the courses taught at the Dehradun-based CSSTEAP (Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and Pacific).

Some analysts have been thrown by the speed with which North Korea moved on the suspected Musudan tests. “But for whatever reason, and with whatever level of success, this shows the need for us to continue to do what we’re doing, which is build these missile defenses of various ranges to protect both our South Korean allies, USA forces on the Korean Peninsula, Japan and USA territory”.

Biden said North Korea is building nuclear weapons that can strike as far as away the USA mainland. About 28,500 USA soldiers are stationed in South Korea to deter possible aggression from North Korea; tens of thousands more are stationed in Japan.
