Delaney Robinson, a second-year student at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, says she was assaulted and raped by a Tar Heels’ football player last winter.

Delaney Robinson accuses junior Allen Artis, a player on the UNC football team, of raping and assaulting her February 14, but she and her attorney said no charges were pressed against Artis for six months.

Robinson, who is under 21, acknowledged she was drinking the night the alleged incident took place, but said “that doesn’t give anyone the right to violate me”.

In a press release, Robinson’s lawyer – Denise Branch of the Raleigh firm Stuart Law – said UNC’s Title IX office and the UNC Department of Public Safety have investigated the case but taken no action.

According to ABC11.com, which first reported the news, a warrant has been issued for North Carolina junior Allen Artis, a reserve linebacker who appeared in 13 games, mostly on special teams, last season.

“I did not realize that, rather than receiving support and concern from the University, I would only be further victimized by the people who should be working to keep us safe”, Robinson said in a statement. I reported it. I allowed the rape kit to be taken. “They even laughed with him when he told them how many girls” phone numbers he had managed to get on the same night he raped me. They told him, “don’t sweat it”. I gave a statement.

The alleged victim released a lengthy statement through her attorney and has agreed to address the media in a press conference.

The student requested warrants out on Artis, but nothing has been done to push the investigation any further. WRAL isn’t identifying the football player she accuses of rape because no criminal charges have been filed against him.

“I did everything a rape victim is supposed to do”, Robinson said in a statement.

Robinson came forward after saying “the university has done nothing”, despite her coming forward with details and claims. I love this University. “But I expect the University to fulfill its promises to me and to all students”.

District Attorney Jim Woodall told ABC11 that the case was “investigated thoroughly”.

North Carolina athletic director Bubba Cunningham said in a text message to a News & Observer reporter that the athletic department is not now in the midst of any “university processes” with any sexual assault cases.
