Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection demo hits PSN on September 29

This is the popular chapter where Drake must escape through an urban environment whilst being chased by an enemy helicopter. Here’s what 1080p/60fps can do to older games, even ones that looked as great as Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted: Among Thieves and Uncharted: Drake’s Deception. The franchise revolves around the adventures of the treasure hunter Nathan Drake. It may be removing multiplayer from Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3, but it’s making up for that with the 60FPS gameplay and the inclusion of some brand new game modes, including a Speed Run Mode.

Graphical improvements combined with new content should make Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection a worthwhile purchase for newcomers of the series as well as seasoned veterans. Over 65 character skins can be used in any of the games in the trilogy, including Doughnut Drake and other favorites. If you’re wondering how they did it, one of the processes in having more detailed characters was that they took the rendering and textures from the game’s cinematics, they then used that to replace the gameplay model of the players.

The Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection demo will give PS4 owners the chance to play through the Warzone chapter from Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The full game hits the store shelves on October 9.

With all the hype put together for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, fans may indeed not be able to wait for it to come out next year. Unfortunately, this will be the only demo made available for the collection. Pretty smart move from Naughty Dog, right?
