The incident came after McGuigan was forced to use tape and attach it to Haye’s leg following the freak injury halfway through the fight.
The 36-year-old Haye may or may not wind up boxing again, but you’d have to figure he probably will.
Bellew was giving up 11 pounds and fighting his first professional bout at heavyweight.
“David Haye was like the bogeyman of the division”. I’m planning for more Bellews. Never wanted it. I’ve got to embrace it, man, just do the best I can. I don’t know how many times I can put my body through this and how many times I can put my family through this.
“My eldest boy is 11 and I didn’t want him going to school and hearing comments saying his dad is going to get hurt”. The ball is in his court.
He said: “We can’t take away what Tony Bellew’s done, when you look at the actual strategy of the fight, Tony boxed and countered perfectly and accordingly”.

His trainer Dave Coldwell wants the WBC cruiserweight champion to call it quits, but the Scouser knows Hearn will make him an offer he can’t refuse – possibly for a world heavyweight title fight.
Bellew has said he’s ready to retire after securing his children’s future with a career high payday against Haye.

It would seem that the Jamaican-born fighter thinks Bellew only won because Haye had twisted his ankle – an injury that later emerged to be ruptured ligaments, and took to his Twitter account to lay into Saturday’s victor.
Bellew had already proved a point by denying Haye an early victory.

It was announced on Sunday night that Haye’s injury had been operated on. All in all, this was a desperate night for Haye.
