Mr. Sharif said the United Nations must honour its own commitments on Kashmir.

Sharif said the “indigenous uprising” in Kashmir has been met with “brutal repression by Indian soldiers” and would “only fortify the determination of Kashmiris to fight for their rights” “Pakistan fully supports self-determination of Kashmiris’ legitimate demand”, he said. “The people of Kashmir have waited 70 years for implementation of this promise”, he said.

The disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir is divided between India and Pakistan by a heavily militarized and mountainous frontier called the Line of Control.

The Pakistan Prime Minister claimed that he had “gone the extra mile to achieve this, repeatedly offering a dialogue to address all outstanding issues but India has posed unacceptable preconditions to engage in a dialogue”.

Poe said it was time the U.S. stopped paying Pakistan “for its betrayal and designate it for what it is: a state sponsor of terrorism”. Both countries have been engaged in a war of words which they had threatened to escalate during their respective visits to the UN General Assembly. Without specifically mentioning Pakistan, only France called for “decisive action to be taken, in accordance with global law, against the terrorist groups targeting India, particularly the Lashkar-eTaiba, the Jaish-e-Mohammed, and the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen”. This not acceptable? Pak PM Sharif at #UNGA in complete denial of Uri terror attack.

The Pakistan PM alleged “the extra- judicial killings” in the Valley and demanded an “independent enquiry” into it. “We are ready to play constructive role in improvement of relations between Pakistan and India”, the Chinese Premier added. If enacted, the legislation will require the US President to give congress a report detailing instances of Pakistan supporting worldwide terrorism or state unequivocally it is not.

The meeting came ahead of Sharif’s address at the UNGA on Wednesday, where he is expected to flag the Kashmir issue.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed to punish those responsible for Sunday’s attack in Kashmir and has faced calls from some within India for military action against Pakistan.

Among the other countries whose statements against the Uri terror attack Swarup tweeted on Tuesday include Japan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Maldives, Mauritius, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, Canada, Mongolia and South Korea.

Burhan Wani, the young leader murdered by Indian forces has emerged as a symbol of latest Kashmiri ‘Intifada’. Shows continued Pak attachment to terrorism.
