“You say kill, kill, kill”.

Maneka Gandhi has come out strongly against the State government’s move saying that the decision cull ferocious dogs ran contrary to an apex court direction on the issue. The dog becomes hostile.

Taking a dig at Maneka Gandhi, he asked pejoratively how one could be an animal lover, if they have no compassion for human beings.

Local Administration Minister K T Jaleel had said the local administration secretary has been authorised to issue orders to civic bodies to cull violent street dogs by injecting “special medicines”. The state government had then directed all local self-governing bodies to kill risky stray dogs by injecting a drug. His mother was also injured when dogs attacked her as she tried to chase them away.

Responding to the state government’s proposal to kill violent dogs through lethal injection, Animal Welfare Board of India Chairman R M Barq had said that he will strongly oppose the move by the state as it amounts to violation of Supreme Court guidelines. “Where has that gone?” she asked.

The state government made a decision to intensify steps against stray dogs after a woman was mauled to death by them.

“We have also sanctioned an exgratia of Rs 50,000 to another lady who was also attacked by dogs the same day”. She blamed the state for not using centre’s fund for the sterilization of dogs.

“If you sterilize the dogs, they will be happy, they will be gentle”. “It makes dogs happy, no sterilized dog ever bites”, she said.
