Union Minister VK Singh’s wife files complaint against man for allegedly blackmailing

Union Minister VK Singh’s wife Bharti Singh has lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police alleging that she was being blackmailed by a man with doctored recordings of her phone conversations. Chauhan is said to be the friend of Bharti and VK Singh’s nephew, according to a report on CNN-News18. In her complaint, Bharti Singh said that the man, Pradeep Chauhan, threatened to make the recordings public unless she paid him Rs 2 crore.

Singh also alleged in her complaint that the accused had posted a video on Youtube levelling false allegations against her husband, who is the minister of state for external affairs in Modi government, and family.

According to NDTV, police sources claim that Chauhan meant to splice her conversation to distort the content. The case of extortion has been filed at the Tughlaq Road police station in New Delhi. Mrs Singh has reportedly told the police that Mr Chauhan has a licensed revolver and has threatened her family with harm. This she says is because Chauhan (the accused) carries a gun.

The content of the secretly tapped audio and video is not known to Bharti, she added.
