United can still be in thick of title race – Van Gaal
Herrera has frequently been over-looked by Van Gaal during his season and a half at United.

Van Gaal has warned that if the former Chelsea player does not improve his performances, he is likely to be replaced by the Manchester United youngster Andreas Pereira.
Jose Mourinho has agreed a deal to take over as manager of Manchester United on 1 July, according to reports in Spain.
Woodward enjoys a warm relationship with Van Gaal and recently resisted dismissing him despite increasing pressure from supporters.
“Having said that, Van Gaal has another year left on his contract and he might stay longer”.
He sees succeeding Roy Hodgson as the next best option to taking over at Old Trafford, and would relish working with John Stones, who he tried to sign for Chelsea, Ross Barkley, Dele Alli, Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane.
Moyes’ sacking was announced less than 48 hours after it became mathematically impossible for United to qualify for the Champions League two years ago.
However, since then he has been more bullish over his prospects of staying at United, who have progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup and beaten Stoke City in the Premier League in the last week. I mean what I said.
Van Gaal has come in for criticism over United’s style of play this season, with some reports suggesting the Dutchman would be sacked earlier in the season. “Maybe you remember that”, the Dutchman said.
However, an irritated Van Gaal disagreed with his captain and insisted that the upturn in form was down to his philosophy. On Tuesday night, he supplied the penultimate pass for each of United’s three goals against Stoke City and while this selfless activity did not increase Mata’s impressive tally of assists, it meant his role in the victory was still significant.
“Say we had 65, 67 and 70 per cent possession, but there were opponents who said “we don’t care how much possession you have, we have the score on our side”.

I had to move some out, and people said I was wrong, but in the last 18 months players like Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic have retired. Most teams want the ball but are you going to be secure in your way of playing or you go as soon as possible into your attack?
