United dominated but ‘forgot to score’, says Van Gaal

United once again drew a blank on Saturday, with fans inside Old Trafford leading chants of “attack, attack, attack” as they were held to a goalless draw by West Ham. Van Gaal will have to ensure something changes when they travel to Germany, with only a win enough to take them through.

“They want to score every minute of the game but it’s not possible”.

But outside of Van Gaal’s enthusiasm for the future, the Manchester United fans are getting increasingly frustrated with United’s poor return of results. “You never know. I think they would”.

‘Sometimes, it’s hard to create and find space but, of course, we should create more chances and do more. Van Gaal asked himself after the match.

Manchester United are ready to snub an approach for Pep Guardiola and will instead back Louis van Gaal with a £200 million transfer war chest in the summer, The Sun report. You have to finish and that’s the only problem we have. We have to finish better than we did today. “We were dominant and attacking, we were creating chances – only we forgot to score”.

Van Gaal admitted that he may need to add another striker to his squad, but he claimed that even a player of the quality of Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero or Barcelona’s Luis Suarez would not be guaranteed to score.

“The most important thing is you dominate, create and you finish.

I hope they can play on Tuesday but it is a very short [turnaround] so it is a very big question mark”, Van Gaal told United’s official website.

But Van Gaal believes there is plenty of room for the 31-year-old to improve on his performances for the club so far.

Marouane Fellaini, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Bastian Schweinsteiger all squandered good chances to register a much-needed win against West Ham, who were also guilty of wasting clear opportunities. My opinion about scoring goals is not only about composure but also a lot of luck.
