United Kingdom court keeps 19-year-old in custody after stabbing rampage

A retired San Jose firefighter who tried to grab the man who stabbed to death a retired teacher in London this week says anyone would have tried to stop the attack. Terrorism is being examined as a potential motive for a knife rampage at Russell Square, central London, that left one woman dead and five others injured.
Police raided Bulhan’s home in Tooting on Thursday after he was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Zakaria Bulhan has been charged with the murder of 64-year-old Darlene Horton.
Bulhan, a Norwegian national of Somali origin who moved to the United Kingdom in 2002 and lives in Tooting, south London, appeared before Westminster Magistrates’ Court today.
The attacker was finally subdued when police fired a stun gun after he refused orders to stop running.
Witnesses described their horror as a knife-wielding man launched his attack on passers-by in Russell Square, stabbing anyone he could reach.
Although London has been on edge because of deadly attacks on the European mainland claimed by Islamic State extremists, London police say they’ve found no evidence of radicalization or links to terrorism in this case.
The stabbings late Wednesday night rattled the city and came just hours after authorities announced an increased police presence there following recent terrorist attacks across Europe.
The Metropolitan Police added in a statement that he was in custody and would appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London for an initial hearing on Saturday.

Yovel Lewkowski, 18, who was visiting London from Tel Aviv was stabbed in the upper arm. The couple had been due to fly home the next day.
