United Kingdom junior doctors conclude first strike
Mr Hunt described this week’s walkout as “wholly unnecessary” and urged junior doctors to return to the negotiating table. “The state of the NHS as it is now is of great concern and we have not got the resources to work in an environment that promotes safe patient care”. A Downing Street spokesman said people were 20% more likely to die if they suffered a stroke at the weekend while newborn deaths were 7% more likely. “That can not be right and that’s something that every doctor wants to sort out as well”.

They are qualified medical practitioners who are working while studying for qualifications for more senior roles.
“It is a pretty exhausting experience”. I just think they’ve not done it through the proper channels.
The head of the union on Wednesday refused to say whether lives would be put at risk by planned action for a full walkout by junior doctors.
The change would offer an 11 percent pay raise, but the premium offered to doctors working on weekends and late hours on weeknights would disappear.
She said: “I understand why the doctors have been forced to take action today”.
“This could begin as early as the summer for new doctors joining the NHS and would then be rolled out among the existing 50,000 junior doctors”, our correspondent said. I’m calling of the Government to recognise the strength of feeling among doctors.
Significant disagreements still exist between the BMA and the government over pay, safety, and working hours, according to a position paper by the BMA. It is an absolute privilege to be able to do this job, but we will be working longer hours and we will be more exhausted, and that is going to impact on our decision making. “With the strike over, we have a cautious optimism that we can make some progress”, an official close to the talks said.
The parody ends with the line: “We need to strike, yeah we have to fight this battle so we can win the war”. Junior doctors will be protesting outside the hospital from 9am to 6pm.
A West Midlands hospital has asked doctors to come off the picket line to help after a surge in patients.
The BMA said the strike was sending a “clear message” to the government.
Trainee doctors in England will provide emergency-only care during the strike, similar to the medical service offered on Christmas Day in the country.
Dr Stedman said it would “be unsafe to deliver care to all our in-patients with a reduced workforce”.
Thousands of junior doctors will go on strike today despite last-ditch efforts by David Cameron to get them to abandon their “damaging” course of action.
