“We owe it to the millions of people Labour exists to represent to end the sniping and personal attacks, and work together for all those who depend on the election of a Labour government”.
“What proportions of energy do you put to that, the thing Momentum is doing, and what proportion of your energy do you put towards fighting the Tories in Parliament and building up a successful Parliamentary Labour Party in their important democratic role of opposition”. “I think that compares favourably”.
Jeremy Corbyn has struck a defiant tone in a close-of-poll statement on Labour’s tough leadership election, warning rebellious MPs against “destructive self-indulgence”.
The former foreign secretary, who quit United Kingdom politics after feuding with his brother Ed over the Labour leadership, condemned Jeremy Corbyn’s “half-hearted” European Union referendum campaign.
He added: “All Labour party members and MPs have a responsibility to work within the democracy of our party and respect the leadership of whoever is elected”.
Mr Smith had held the Work and Pensions Secretary portfolio but he has no intention of re-entering the shadow cabinet if Mr Corbyn is named the victor on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a key Corbyn supporter, shadow chancellor John McDonnell suggested Mr Corbyn might win with a reduced mandate.
Around 11,000 Labour party members from across the country are due to descend on Liverpool this weekend – including many well-known politicians and media personalities – but there is also likely to be a smattering of other celebrities hitting the city to take in the politics.
British Jews have been angered once again by Labour party head Jeremy Corbin, who is running for reelection as party chairman.
Mr Corbyn told the BBC that he had an “awful lot” of calls from Labour MPs who wanted to unite.
These divisions continued as Labour’s national executive committee failed to reach consensus on how to appoint its shadow cabinet, after almost nine hours of talks.
Corbyn is expected to win out against challenger Owen Smith, who launched his bid after a parliamentary rebellion in the wake of the shock Brexit vote that critics partly blamed on Corbyn’s lacklustre campaign.
He said the distinction between being appointed to the shadow cabinet and being voted on to it is “you would be elected by your peers”.
Mr Watson also wants to see the system of registered supporters – who paid just £3 to get a vote in last year’s leadership election – scrapped.
Backing the video, Corbyn described Loach as “one of the greatest directors of our time”, while Loach added that he took on the project in a bid to meet party members “inspired” by Corbyn.

“Mr Corbyn needs to answer these questions urgently so that we know whether he really is a committed anti-racist or whether, astonishingly, he endorses a sentiment that gives a free pass to racism against Jews”.
