United Kingdom says Russian strikes against Syria rebels helping IS

Russian aircraft have supported the Syrian opposition by 17 strikes at the positions of the Islamic State terrorist organization north of Rakka over the past 24 hours, more than 150 militants have been killed, he went on to say.

At least 12 people were said to have been killed by air strikes in Syria’s northern province of Aleppo, a monitor group reported on Tuesday.

In the first incident, air strikes on a fuel market in the village of Maaret al-Naasan killed 16 people and wounded dozens more, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Another 18 civilians, including four women, died in air strikes on a market in a village held by the Islamic State group in the northern Aleppo province.

Since September 30, Russian Federation has been conducting an aerial campaign in Syria against the Islamic State (ISIL, or Daesh in Arabic) extremist group, which is outlawed in Russian Federation, following a request from President Bashar Assad.

“We have documented 15 death cases so far, but the death toll may rise in the coming hours as numerous injured are suffering critical conditions amid shortage of medical supplies”, the source reported.
