United Nations official accused of aiding Hamas
According to Jewish Virtual Library, PIJ vies the United States an enemy due to its support for Israel, and opposes moderate Arab governments that it feels have been corrupted by Western secularism. Participants in the vigil called for the immediate release of al-Halabi, dubbing him “humanity’s savior”.

In a statement last Thursday, World Vision said Halabi was arrested on his way home from routine meetings on June 15. But the Christian charity, which focuses on children, said its operations in Gaza have been audited and that “based on information available to us at this time, we have no reason to believe that the allegations are true”.
In Gaza, Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem denied the allegations. According to its website, the organization runs programs aimed at improving conditions for the residents of the Gaza Strip in four sectors: governance, productive livelihoods, environment, and infrastructure.
The UNDP said it was “greatly concerned by the allegation”, promising in a statement “a thorough internal review of the processes and circumstances surrounding the allegation”. “Hamas does not want to be in a position where we feel we need to keep defending ourselves”.
However the case with Muhammad Halabi will play out, and whatever will or will not be revealed about World Vision’s relationship with this official, the problem with World Vision and many other aid organizations lies in a dogmatic insistence on viewing Palestinians as victims and Israelis as aggressors-a dogmatism that appears impervious to real humanitarian and moral considerations.
It said Bursh also persuaded his UNDP superiors to prioritise the neighbourhoods of Hamas operatives when earmarking money for reconstruction in Gaza, which was devastated by a 2014 war with Israel.
In a statement, Shin Bet claimed Borsh had redirected UNDP aid allocations to Hamas’ military activities, including the construction of a jetty on the Gaza coast for use by Hamas naval units.
A humanitarian aid worker in the Gaza Strip has been arrested and charged with using his position to provide material assistance to Hamas’ terrorist/military efforts. The group said its work helped more than 92,000 children past year.
The head of World Vision International has doubled down on the organization’s stance that there is no credible evidence to support Israeli government claims that a World Vision staffer in Gaza diverted money to support the fundamentalist Islamic group Hamas.
Prof. Gerald Steinberg adds that, “World Vision’s failures in Gaza highlight the problems of a multi-billion dollar NGO industry that remains largely unregulated and unexamined”.
Mr. Halabi confessed to these acts during an investigation, the officials said.
Australia said on Friday it was suspending funding for relief group World Vision’s operations in the Palestinian Territories after allegations its Gaza representative funnelled millions of dollars to the Islamist militant group Hamas.
World Vision Germany spokeswoman Silvia Holten said the charity’s budget in Gaza in the last decade totaled $22.5 million (£17.34 million).
El-Halabi “said explicitly under questioning that armed Hamas members came in two commercial vehicles with a machine gun mounted on it and under threat they took what they wanted”, Mahmoud said.

“They are trying to belittle their role and to show they are much smaller than they really are”, Nahshon said of World Vision.
