Chelsea have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Southampton star Sadio Mane.

The Mirror have identified Southampton forward Sadio Mane as one of the players Mourinho may turn to to transform the Blues’ fortunes.

Bale’s future is under scrutiny following the El Clasico hammering and the Spanish giants will reportedly sell the Welsh winger if president Florentino Perez bows to fan pressure and resigns.

Manchester United made an enquiry about Mane’s availability in the final days of the summer transfer window, but failed to follow up their initial approach with any kind of formal offer for the Senegal forward who joined Southampton from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2014.

No move materialised but Mane has continued to impress this season with six goals in all competitions, including three in the league, and it has resulted in fresh speculation linking United with a possible £30million bid in January.

Southampton rate him highly and are keen to keep him at the club. The Saints are looking to tie him down with a fat contract to fend off interest from other rival Premier League clubs.
