Bianconeri coach Massimiliano Allegri had previously insisted that he expected the French worldwide at Vinovo on Monday, but several sources – including Gianluca Di Marzio’s website and Premium Sport – had contradicted the Juve manager by insisting that he had been given permission to take his United medical.
United also confirmed the news with a short statement on their club website.
So when asked for a second time, he said: “It’s unbelievable that such a good player is with us and finally we have him”.
Manchester United have thrashed out an agreement with Juventus for Pogba, while the France worldwide has also agreed personal terms.
Pogba swiftly responded to the announcement with his own enigmatic message on social media: “When too many people talk nobody understands”.
After his side’s 3-2 win over the Hammers, Allegri said: “I spoke about Pogba the day before”.
When asked about the Pogba move being finally done after the Leicester game, Mourinho told BT Sport: “I think so, finally”.
The Pogba transfer saga appears to set to run and run, with United’s hopes of confirming the transfer imminently apparently fading after this latest twist in the tale. We discussed together with his brothers and we all decided: “he won’t sign again”.
Pogba played for United as a teenager from 2009-2012 after signing from French club Le Havre, starting with the youth academy and eventually making his senior debut.
But Mourinho believes the 23-year-old boasts a rare combination of qualities possessed by such Premier League greats as Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Scholes, who retired after United’s last title triumph in 2013.
