United States calls on Turkey to pull unauthorized forces from Iraq
The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) carried out an attack against a Sunnimilitary camp in the Bashiqa region of northern Iraq, wounding four Turkish soldiers, as the Turkish prime minister said Turkey would take extra measures in the region despite a recent row with Baghdad over the matter.

In the last three days, Turkish security forces have killed 62 Kurdish militants in two mainly Kurdish towns near the border with Iraq, Turkey’s military said.
Major population centers including Syria’s Raqqa and Iraq’s Mosul remain Islamic State strongholds, allowing it to maintain a revenue base and possibly plan attacks outside its territory. Their decision to refrain, at least for now, from requesting attack helicopters publicly proposed by Carter last week suggests that American plans to provide additional support to local forces will be subject once more to the contours of Iraqi politics.
Army Col. Steve Warren, spokesman for the anti-ISIS mission called Operation Inherent Resolve, reiterated Carter’s comments that the Iraqi government would not ask for help as it had to balance military options with the hard political environment in the country, according to the AP report.
But the Iraqi government demanded the “complete withdrawal” of Turkish forces from its territory, indicating Ankara’s partial pullout was not enough.
On Monday, Iraqi military sources said a series of suicide vehicle bomb attacks killed 35 soldiers outside Ramadi.
Turkey s Western allies had in the past accused Ankara of not doing enough to fight IS and even on occasion collaborating with the group, allegations Turkish officials vehemently denied.
A Kurdish general, who was near the base in the Bashiqa area, said six or seven rockets had landed inside the compound which is also used by an Iraqi militia Turkey says it is training to fight Islamic State.

Turkey has welcomed the formation in Saudi Arabia of a 34-nation military coalition to fight terrorism. Citing threats from IS, Turkey recently sent an unspecified number of reinforcements to the camp, sparking an uproar in Baghdad.
More than 1,000 fighters were received training at the camp when it came under attack.
Turkey denies the charges.
