Clinton and her husband, former president Bill Clinton, paid an effective federal income tax rate of 34.2 percent in 2015, according to the campaign.

The Clinton campaign used the release of the tax returns to hit Donald Trump for failing to release his own. Over the last decade, the couple has donated 7.5 percent of their income to charity, the campaign said, and paid an effective tax rate of 25.6 percent past year.

Like Donald Trump earlier this week, Hillary Clinton went to MI to convince middle-class voters that her economic plan would bring them better jobs, higher wages and an economic vitality that even eight years after the recession eludes so many. They paid an effective federal tax rate of 20.3 percent in 2015.

Trump has refused to make his filings public, saying they’re under audit by the Internal Revenue Service and that he’ll release them only once that review is complete.

Trump’s critics have speculated that the real estate tycoon is hiding his tax returns because they may reveal that he has vastly overstated his personal wealth, has unsavory business ties with the Russians, or may be stingy with charitable donations – or some combination thereof.

Democrats suspect Mr Trump is holding back because his tax return might show he earns less than what he says, pays little or no tax, or gives a negligible amount to charity.

Most of the income came from Clinton’s speaking fees as Hillary has been campaigning for president.

In a speech Thursday focused on jobs and the economy Hillary Clinton promised a public health insurance option, paid family medical leave, affordable childcare, and build on President Barack Obama’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

The power couple took in $3.1 million from their books, while Bill Clinton’s consulting business brought in just under $1.7 million.

What might be in Trump’s tax return?

Clinton is describing a typical day on the campaign trail in the launch of her campaign’s podcast, “With Her”. Bill Clinton made more $5.25 million in speaking fees, while his wife made almost $1.5 from paid speeches. He suggested he was also kidding when he called Obama “the MVP” of the Islamic State. He actually rivals Trump in his disdain for illegal immigrants and any whiff of immigration reform that goes beyond building a wall and deporting millions of illegal immigrants from this country. In 2012, her a year ago at the State Department, he earned more than $16.3 million for 72 speeches.

Overall, trade was a small part of her economic pitch, and it clearly was raised to speak to Trump supporters and those who embraced Sanders’ position on the issue. He did so for the previous 29 years, according to The Washington Post.

“Hillary Clinton has turned over the only records nobody wants to see from her — the American public wants to see the 33,000 emails she deleted to obstruct an FBI investigation,” Jason Miller senior communication advisor of the Trump Campaign has
