United States government finds no H1B visa violations, says Infosys

Reuters reports the Labor Department is still investigating similar complaints by USA workers into Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., a second IT firm hired by Southern California Edison, and HCL Technologies, an IT firm that Disney hired previous year as part of a restructuring of its Orlando-based IT division.

The US authorities concluded the investigation “with a determination of compliance regarding labor condition applications filed in the Southern California Edison project”, Infosys said, in a press release Monday. Infosys reported more than 145 files were reviewed; the company also said it fully cooperated with the investigation.

Software giant Infosys has said the USA government has cleared the firm of H-1B visa violation charges. Both the companies had then denied these allegations.

“IT provider corporations like Infosys present superior service, talent and scope from worldwide centres of excellence, bringing worth and know-how improvements to allow American corporations to be aggressive and succeed”, Infosys EVP and Head of Americas Sandeep Dadlani stated. Indian IT companies are among the biggest recipients of H1B visas as a significant chunk of revenue for the Indian outsourcing industry comes from the US.

Infosys continues to actively recruit and rent expertise in the United States, however, whereas there’s a scarcity of know-how expertise, Infosys is a accountable participant in the T-1B programme, he added. “We do not practise or condone unfair or unethical H-1B visa practices”.
