Federal consumer safety regulators on Thursday formally recalled 1 million Galaxy Samsung Note 7 smartphones after dozens of users reported the device caught fire while charging.

Samsung has received 92 reports of the batteries overheating in the US, including 26 reports of burns and 55 reports of property damage, including fires in cars and a garage.

“Because this product presents such a serious fire hazard, I am urging all consumers to take advantage of this recall right away”.

All Samsung Note 7 devices sold before September 15, 2016 are now officially recalled.

The recall includes all phones sold before September 15, 2016.

And different regulatory practices in different countries – as well as varying reactions from carriers – have caused a degree of customer uncertainty and confusion that is hampering Samsung’s efforts to get the recall behind it as quickly and painlessly as possible.
