United States health officials puzzled by ‘unique’ Zika case

The study authors said that once a pregnant woman develops symptoms, the brain of the fetus may already be damaged.
The symptoms are similar to other arbovirus infections such as dengue that include fever, skin rashes, conjunctivitis, muscle and joint pain, malaise, and headache.
The World Health Organisation has described the Zika virus as a global health emergency.

Two more patients tested positive for the Zika virus, bringing to eight the number of people afflicted with the dreaded disease since 2012. That still doesn’t match up with current research on the Zika virus, which shows that it can only be passed through sexual contact or a bite from a Zika mosquito.
