The announcement of the prisoners’ release came as the United Nations nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, announced Sunday that Iran is in compliance with a July deal to restrict its nuclear program.

On Sunday, the US Treasury Department sanctioned 11 entities and individuals, including six Iranians and one Chinese citizen, over their involvement in procurement on behalf of Iran’s ballistic missile program.

“The Islamic Republic will respond to these aggravating and propagandistic measures by pursuing its legal missile programme stronger than before and developing its defensive capabilities”, a foreign ministry statement said.

Three Americans have been released under the negotiated prisoner exchange with Iran. Rezaian was convicted on phony espionage charges in a secret trial.

Iran expects the deal will provide it an estimated $100 billion in sanctions relief. That allowed the government to gain access to tens of billions of dollars in frozen assets as well as the lifting of sanctions on Iran’s banks and oil industry.

“I reiterate the need to be vigilant about the deceit and treachery of arrogant countries, especially the United States, in this (nuclear) issue and other issues”.

(CNN) – When Friday’s business hours ended, President Barack Obama was still being accused by Republicans of apologizing to Iran after two small us boats drifted into the country’s waters, leading to 10 sailors being held.

Following the deal, critics say that the U.S.is funding Iran’s destructive nuclear regime which seriously threatens global security.

What does the deal mean for Iran’s nuclear program? “We are really reminded once again of diplomacy’s power to tackle significant challenges”, US Secretary of State John Kerry said.

A fifth prisoner, the American student Matthew Trevithick, was released separately from the other four on Saturday, a USA official said.

Rezaian, Christian pastor Saeed Abedini and former US Marine Amir Hekmati arrived at a US military base in Germany late on Sunday on their way home from Iran.

Combined with closer IAEA oversight, this will make it extremely hard for Iran to make a nuclear weapon, and the limits on the size of Iran’s activities remain in place for at least a decade.
