United States of America win 15th Olympic gold in men’s basketball

The US swept aside Serbia 96-66 Sunday to claim its third straight Olympic men’s basketball crown, and the final gold medal of Rio 2016. He had already become the leading scorer earlier in the tournament, capping an Olympic career that began with disappointment as a member of the US team that finished third in 2004. This is it for me, this is it for me.

“I committed to this in ’04”, Anthony continued. Anthony said in an interview with NBC, trailing off for several seconds to gather himself.

“I’d love to see that”. I’m here today, three gold medals later.

The USA, who were hot favourites heading into the competition, have now won the Olympic gold medal 15 times and have never finished worse than in bronze position. This team was often criticized for its lack of its lack of ball movement and a propensity for too much 1-on-1 basketball on offense.

“It’s been a fun journey for me, it’s been a fun ride”.

Carmelo Anthony may never win an National Basketball Association title, because while he’s a great, Hall-of-Fame-caliber player, he’s not quite good enough to drag a moribund franchise like the Knicks to an O’Brien Trophy. “I wouldn’t trade that for anything in the world”.

When the final horn sounded, the US players shared long hugs with each other and then Krzyzewski. I just want to say thank you for allowing me to be one of the leaders, not of just our team, but of our country.

It is unclear if Anthony meant to echo Donald Trump’s “Make America great again” slogan, but his comments follow several earlier ones about the state of the US, in particular its race relations, in the wake of high-profile killings of and by police officers.

Anthony used Sunday’s platform to send a message of unity in the wake of the recent social unrest.

“In spite of everything that’s going on right now in our country, we gotta be united”. This is what it’s about, representing our country on the biggest stage that you can be on. “I believe that. We got a lot of work to do, but it’s one step at a time, and I’m glad we represented it in the fashion that we did”. I stuck with it – we stuck with it.
