United Top Table But Injuries Pile Up
Leicester became the third team to top the table on Saturday after Manchester City started it in first place and Manchester United briefly led after they won 2-1 at Watford in the early kickoff.

“Jones has a twisted ankle and Herrera maybe a hamstring injury”.
Manchester United stole one at the Hawthorns during the weekend with a last minute own goal by Troy Deeney that helped them beat Watford 2-1, and hard-to-please Van Gaal expressed his happiness with their efforts. “Antonio Valencia was operated on and Luke Shaw you know, and now Jones and Herrera, I think, are not available for Wednesday”, Van Gaal told United’s official webiste.
But mindful that seeing United play against PSV could stoke some bad memories, Van Gaal has given Shaw a few days off from his rehabilitation which, the Dutchman admits, is proving to be a frustrating process for the England worldwide.
United continued to attack at the start of the second half with Gomes saving to foil Jesse Lingard, while Schweinsteiger headed over from Juan Mata’s corner. Depay finished it very well.
Speaking to Manchester Evening News, the 26-year-old said: ‘I want to play as many games possible, but I prefer to think about the next game which is Watford away.
Deeney thought he had snatched a draw when he cancelled out Memphis Depay’s opener with an 87th-minute penalty, but the Hornets captain undid his good work by bundling in Bastian Schweinsteiger’s shot-cum-cross minutes later.
“The first impression is they are not heavy injuries but we have to play Wednesday. There was a bit of luck but we are happy to get the three points”, the Germany midfielder added. “Of course we are fighting for the first position in the league”.
Watford finally got the equaliser their second-half dominance deserved, when Deeney slammed a penalty past de Gea after Marcos Rojo had inexplicably pulled down Ighalo in the area.
“We have a lot of injuries now so we have to adapt to that”.
“Fellaini is injured and that’s a big blow because Rooney is ill, so we have a big problem”, Van Gaal said.

‘We have no excuses, we have to be focused for the many games ahead. Moreover Van Gaal’s switch of formation to three at the back didn’t do enough good with his side looking vulnerable after gaps were opened up.
