Vin Diesel is opening up about the next installment of the “Fast & Furious” franchise – and longtime fans are going to be very excited about what Vin has to say.

“Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision… they have been like family”, the actor wrote in a Facebook post.
Diesel just wrote a lengthy Facebook post, reports Deadline, in which he points to his mother’s advice: “Either you direct 8 yourself… or don’t do it”. We all know what we really want.
The saga of the “Fast & Furious” films has seen the release of seven films and the production of an eighth already beginning, but according to the film’s star and producer Vin Diesel, we’re in for three more before the series finally taps out. Starting with the 2011 caper “Fast Five”, which introduced Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to the franchise, the “Fast & Furious” films have increasingly defied logic and expectations, turning the series into a full-blow action franchise. Sadly all we have for now as far as the 8th film goes is a release date, April 14th 2017.

The word around town is that the studio was looking at both Justin Lin (who has directed previous films in the franchise) and James Wan, but because of scheduling conflicts both of those directors wouldn’t work out.
Diesel recently took to his social media accounts to address his legions of fans about the reported difficulties behind the scenes of Furious 8. “He would also handle the Brian O’connor issue with integrity, given that he and David Ayer were the ones who initially created that beloved character in the first place”, the actor stated.
During an October, 2012, interview with We Got This Covered, Rob Cohen claimed that “the studio was just milking the cash cow” with the first two sequels in the franchise. There’s no word yet on whether or not they’ve talked to John Singleton (2 Fast 2 Furious), but Cohen certainly seems like a possibility.

Perhaps Vin Diesel will be able to convince the XXX director to consider taking the job if the studio decides to offer it to him.
