The University of Michigan Football’s official Facebook page is under attack by hackers.
Several links started appearing on the team’s verified page around 3 a.m. Wednesday.
The posts remained on the football and basketball team’s page until around 8:30 a.m. when the Facebook pages appeared to have been deactivated.
What happened here is basically a social media manager’s worst nightmare and Michigan did a good job to take care of the problem swiftly.
Associate Athletic Director Kurt Svoboda told The Detroit News it was “working with our partners”.
“We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate the support of our audiences throughout this issue”.
Facebook and Michigan temporarily disabled the pages that were hacked, but those pages are active again.

In part, the statement read: “Early this morning, Facebook accounts for Michigan Athletics, football and men’s basketball were compromised”.
