Univision Protests Lack of Hispanic Moderator in Presidential Debates
The selection of Quijano marks the first time an anchor from a digital news network has been tapped for one of the commission’s debate assignments.

The second presidential event will be unlike its predecessor in that it will boast a town hall-style format and will be moderated by two hosts: Martha Raddatz, chief global affairs correspondent and co-anchor of ABC’s “This Week”, and Anderson Cooper, anchor of CNN’s “AC360”.
All debates will take place from 9 p.m.to 10:30 p.m. ET.
But that’s not stopping Hillary Clinton from preparing strenuously for this debate, and she has engaged in vigorous debate prep to crush her opponent from a psychoanalytical perspective, according to the New York Times.
Though most voters could be already decided by then – and two states, Minnesota and South Dakota, start early voting three days before the first debate – the debates might be Trump’s best chance to narrow the lead that Clinton has opened in most polls since the party conventions. The rest of the time will be used by the moderator to delve deeper into the topic. The campaigns have no say in who is selected.
“This made the Commission even more cautious than usual in researching potential moderators, sources said”. Millions of people will be watching and ready to critique performances. His son will be joined by the Fox News moderating team of Bret Baier and Megyn Kelly, that handled several GOP primary debates.
The formats for the debates were published on July 7 and it took nearly two months for the moderators to be announced.
The leadoff position is a coup for Holt, who took over as NBC “Nightly News” anchor a year ago for Brian Williams and kept the broadcast on top of the ratings.
“NBC Nightly News” anchor Holt will be at the helm of the first Clinton-Trump meeting, a debate that is expected to draw unusually high ratings because of the unconventional nature of the 2016 campaign to date. “Simply put: it’s an abdication of your responsibility to represent and reflect one of the largest and most influential communities in the U.S”.
The delay is due in part to an unprecedented challenge the bipartisan Commission faces in selecting individuals who are immune (or at least as immune as possible) to accusations of bias. He said he was interested, and suggested others like Jose Diaz-Balart of Telemundo and Maria Hinojosa of NPR.
FOX News Channel (FNC) is a 24-hour all-encompassing news service dedicated to delivering breaking news as well as political and business news. “It’s about time to have a Latino or a Latina in those debates as moderators”.
Other out journalists, including Cooper, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and CNN’s Don Lemon, hosted debates during the primaries.
“They knew I was interested”, he said. I am writing you in support of opening the presidential debates to Jill Stein and Gary Johnson.
Wallace later told me this: “Do I take a certain pleasure when I open the gate and he decides to walk down the path and I’ve got the bear trap at the end of the path?”
