Unnamed player: “At Manchester United, I’m half the player I could be”

Louis van Gaal has paid Jamie Vardy the ultimate compliment by comparing the record-seeking Leicester forward to former Manchester United goal machine Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Next up for United is a trip to surprise Premier League leaders Leicester City on Saturday.

When asked whether he was anxious about criticism from supporters, Van Gaal said: “Of course, because the fans have to be happy, you are playing for the fans so you can not deny that”. “It depends not always on the quality and shape of the player at the moment, but also the game plan”.

An unknown Manchester United player has reportedly told a journalist he’s “half the player he could be” under the tutorship of current boss Louis van Gaal.

Van Gaal’s team have now drawn 0-0 four times in their last seven games, scoring only six times in eight games.

“Also in the Premier League, our average in away matches is much higher than previous year”.

United knew a win would send them through with a match to spare, but instead they rarely looked like scoring when inside the visitors’ box and their play was slow at times during the second half.

The Dutchman drew parallels between Vardy and Arsenal great Dennis Bergkamp, who played under Van Gaal at Ajax.

“I think we’re building a very big construction”. “I think it’s good Jamie has this – maybe all his team-mates will try to help him”.

“Today we could have scored at least three goals – they were not the most hard chances, but we didn’t score”.

United laboured to a goalless draw against PSV on Wednesday evening and missed out on the chance of securing their place in the Champions League knockout phase with a game to spare.

“We knew if he came on the game would be more direct. I thought it was positive for us”, Cocu said.

What’s more, should PSV and United finish level on points it’s the Dutch club who will progress thanks to their 2-1 victory over the Red Devils in September. We believe in him so he has to develop himself elsewhere. He is a fantastic manager.

“It was like that last season and even more so now”.
