However he made it clear that there would be no compromise on the national integrity of India at any cost.

“Not only the political parties, even ordinary people are asking why the Prime Minister can not face the Parliament, can not answer to the queries raised by Members of the Parliament and these are all issues of national concern. The house expresses deep concern and sensitivity towards the deteriorating situation and the deaths”, said the resolution, read out by Rajnath Singh in Hindi.

In an apparent dig at the PM over his remarks about “insaniyat, jamhooriyat and Kashmiriyat”, Mr Azad said such statements only suited former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee and “such words sound weird if it comes from someone who doesn’t believe in them”.

He also added that while the PM tweeted about “everything”, he didn’t say “anything about Kashmir”.

“Some Lashkar terrorists are trying to threaten our security personnel and their families in Kashmir”, Singh added.

The Home Minister appealed people especially youth of the valley to refrain themselves from indulging in violence. “There should be the integration of minds and hearts”, Azad said, expressing concern over the violence and continued lockdown of the valley. “We are making efforts to ensure normalcy is restored in the Valley”, he added.

Singh said: ” Security forces were directed to exercise as much restraint as they can in the Valley”. At the same time, he praised the state government for conducting the Amarnath yatra and spoke of the progress of solar projects in Ladakh. “Be it the J&K government under Mehbooba Mufti or the central government, we are finding solution to all problems through development”, Modi said. He suggested that the government should raise the issue of Pakiatan Occupied Kashmir at all worldwide fora to seek its control.

Congress spokesman said the Prime Minister’s intervention on Kashmir situation was “belated” and hoped that the Prime Minister will respond to the debate and discussion being held tomorrow in Parliament. “We have to chalk out such political measures that the people of Jammu and Kashmir also start loving us”.

His statement and clarification on his return from Pakistan after attending Saarc ministers meet was also appreciated in both houses of Parliament. “If you invite the national political parties with their representatives belonging to other parts of the country who do not have any notion about Kashmir then it would not serve the goal”, said Singh.

Singh also said that medical facilities for the injured were being provided.

Nazir Ahmad Laway, a Kashmir lawmaker from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), questioned why the nation remembered Kashmir only “when it is burning”. He favoured not to involve the separatists in the dialogue process.

India’s Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar summoned Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit in New Delhi on Tuesday to protests that Pakistanis have been trained and instructed to carry out attacks in India and Kashmir. “But it will be about Pakistan occupied Kashmir, not Kashmir”, he said. He said the neighbouring country is sponsoring and supporting those who are involved in anti-India activities. “Kashmiriyat” and “Insaniyat” are murdered by pellet guns.
