UP Governor Ram Naik to meet Dayashankar Singh’s daughter tomorrow

“We showed Daya Shankar the door after he made disparaging comments against Mayawati. I associate our dignity with yours and stand with you”, Jaitley told the BSP leader, addressing her as “Behen Mayawati”. The BJP had on Friday demanded an apology from her for Siddiqui’s abusive language targeting Singh’s family.

Maurya said the BJP found the statement made by Dayashankar Singh against Mayawati incorrect and eventually expelled him from the party. An FIR has been lodged and Mayawati found nearly all the opposition standing by her.

Earlier, lamenting over the abuse which she and her daughter have been facing following the expulsion of her husband Dayashankar Singh from BJP, his wife Swati Singh has accused the BSP members of “traumatizing” their minor daughter. The protesters burnt the effigy of Dayashankar Singh and demanded his arrest immediately under various sections of Indian Penal Code and SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. “This is a great insult not only of Behenji (Mayawati) but the entire Dalit community”, roared Mayawati’s close aide and former Uttar Pradesh Minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui.

“I have called her tomorrow at Raj Bhawan to listen to her grievances”, he said.

“It’s a sad turn of events. Why he was not expelled from the party”, Swati asked. Also condemning the Gujarat incident, the meeting strongly batted for providing justice to victims of such happenings. Mayawati and three other BSP leaders were named in the FIR.

ADG (Law and Order) Daljit Singh Chawdhary said Special Task Force (STF) has been directed to assist the Lucknow police in arresting Singh.

Singh, a recently appointed vice-president of the BJP’s state unit, had been entrusted with a key position for the first time in his brief political career.

The derogatory remarks of Dayashankar Singh questioning the character of Mayawati were “admittedly reprehensible”, but the response by the BSP supremo and her supporters has been “even more outrageous”, Union Minister Anupriya Patel said on Saturday.
