The post includes a Gif showing the outline of the new phone, along with a black screen showing dimmed-out key information like the time, date, and any notification icons. Well, nearly nothing, except that it’s one of the most powerful devices around and on par with its main rival Samsung Galaxy S7. This year, we can expect more innovative features from LG. What does make it belong to an inferior class is the processor, which appears to be Qualcomm’s mid-range octa-core Snapdragon 625 – certainly no match for the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 820 that’s expected to power the G5. “LG G5, Always ON”, so this caption is pretty much self-explanatory. Allegedly, Samsung is also planning a February 21 unveiling of their upcoming flagship lineup, the Galaxy S7.

The Always-on display is essentially an update to the second screen feature introduced on the LG V10 in September 2015, according to Android Authority. The smartphone may have either a 3GB RAM or 4GB RAM and also, an external storage option will be provided. It wouldn’t be the first: Google debuted Ambient Display, a feature for all intents and purposes identical to Motorola’s Active Display, in Android 5.0 alongside the Nexus 6. One accessory that we know of is the LG Quick Cover, which uses a metallic mesh design with a clear plastic window cover.

As per the new listing found on the Geekbench database, the upcoming device might have a model number of LG-F700S.

“Come meet new friends on the playground”, the company states in its LG G5 Day invitations.
