Update on Liverpool’s Sadio Mane after his injury scare

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted the torrent of criticism pouring down on Alberto Moreno will not affect his judgement of the Reds left-back. Despite the attacking bent of his side, Klopp believes conceding goals need not be inevitable once the squad instinctively know their responsibilities on the pitch.

“The forward drops in as well and they try to play rotational and pop the ball around and your players have to see through that and realise that they weren’t opening us up and that’s an important factor”. He was involved in the penalty situation, right? So that’s something of course. I thought we could have done better. “We had absolutely no luck and everybody needs to be more clinical”, Klopp told Sky Sports. But that’s all. I don’t really understand what we are talking about.

John was also impressed by Chelsea in their first game under Antonio Conte, describing them as “well-balanced” and having put in a “good, solid performance”.

“I can not be interested in criticism from other people”. He’s got time and space for a shot, but his curling effort is a yard or so wide.

The BBC’s Garth Crooks went even further, claiming Liverpool would be relegated with the 24-year-old in the side, but Klopp brushed it all aside. Nathaniel Clyne was guilty for the first, with Daniel Sturridge and Ragnar Klavan culpable for the second.

“It was a myth that came out about five years ago that possession wins you games and Leicester disproved that last year”. Take it, hopefully win it, then analyse it for the next game. Instead, Roberto Firmino – a player whose form oscillates between the adept to the average within the space of the same game – toiled when trying to link the play. The scan showed the player had sustained a muscle injury and whilst this made him a doubt for the trip to Lancashire, Mane isn’t expected to be out for long.

“We are not blind and we have other options”.

“The problem with transfers is no one cares about the players who are still here”.

“Liverpool is a big club and you have to do everything to write history with them – that’s what we have to do this season”.

“Football is a game you can not play without making mistakes”. Liverpool is a club with a lovely history, but we have to make new history and we can do it with titles and winning games.

Tactical Flexibility is a Staple of Liverpool's Attack
