Upfronts 2016: CBS Schedule Favors Comedy, Consistency
First and foremost, the networks last non-renewed TV series, Limitless is not on the schedule and we recently learned the network was shopping aroundLimitless to other channels, so it looks like the series may not be dead just yet.

“We like comedy because there is not a lot of comedy out there”, said Kelly Kahl, senior executive vice president for CBS Primetime.
It looks like CBS is putting the focus on comedy for the 2016-2017 schedule, as they have made their Monday night block all about comedies, including Kevin James and Matt LeBlanc returning to network television! “For now, his plans for a cushy life will have to wait, because Kevin has work to do, and this time, his family is his beat”.
“NCIS” stays at 8 p.m., of course.
Speaking of new dramas, Michael Weatherly may be gone from “NCIS“, but he’s back on a new show – directly after “NCIS“. LeBlanc plays a contractor who starts spending more time with his kids when his wife (a role played by Jenna Fischer in the pilot, but being recast for the series) resumes her career outside the home.
Like Fox and NBC, CBS is also looking to reboot an old television series with the action show “MacGyver”, which was a hit on ABC in the 1980s and ’90s.
“Two Broke Girls” returns at 9 p.m., followed by “The Odd Couple”, which earned a place on the fall schedule by delivering solid ratings in its recent mid-season return. “Scorpions” moves to 10 p.m. NCIS alum Michael Weatherly stars as Dr. Jason Bull, who is “brilliant, brash and charming”, according to CBS.
At 9 p.m., returning comedies “2 Broke Girls” and “The Odd Couple” will air back to back, leading into “Scorpion” at 10 p.m., switching from the 9 p.m. slot where it aired its first two seasons.
WEDNESDAY: 8-9, “Survivor”; 9-10, “Criminal Minds”; 10-11, “Code Black”.
Following football, The Big Bang Theory will move to its regular Thursday time period, and Kevin Can Wait will shift to 8 p.m.to anchor the night and lead in to the new comedy Man with a Plan starring Matt LeBlanc.
“Community” star McHale portrays an adventure reporter making the transition to office boss in “The Great Indoors”. Last year’s most high-profile new CBS show, “Supergirl”, has been transferred to the CW network, and CBS rejected a pilot series based on the Nancy Drew books. Fox has a show called “APB”, in which a tech mogul funds a police force in a hopeless Chicago neighborhood. Joining his team on high-risk missions around the globe is maverick former Central Intelligence Agency agent Lincoln (George Eads).

Crimetime Saturday continues with encore broadcasts of the network’s most-watched dramas at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., followed by 48 Hours at 10 p.m.
