Upgraded Apple Watch is waterproof, has GPS
And honestly, it looks a lot like the first-gen Apple Watch. Instead, you’ll find all the big improvements are on the inside.

The ceramic Apple Watch Edition is by no means cheap and is priced starting at over $1,000, but it is still considerably more affordable than the $10,000 gold models from before.
“It is faster, it is brighter, it is water resistant…” Surprisingly, a trick speaker is what makes all this possible. In that case the only thing which really sets Series 2 apart is the water proofing (which will be useful for some) and a newer Global Positioning System radio.
You now can’t buy the original Watch on Apple’s website, but walk into Apple Stores in the United Kingdom and it’s still on sale. Additionally, Apple is including a Global Positioning System chip, which will allow developers for apps like Viewranger (an app for hiking) to add tracking functions for folks who don’t want to bring their smartphones along.
We contacted Apple and a spokesperson told us that it will continue to sell the original Watch in store until September 16, when it will be replaced with the upgraded Series 1 and Series 2 watches.

Chief operating officer Jeff Williams said the Apple Watch Series 2 would be faster and feature Global Positioning System – which will allow people to gather fitness data during an outdoor workout without need to take a smartphone along.
