The former secretary of state was under fire after telling a NY fundraiser last night: “To be grossly generalist, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorable”. “Right? The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic – you name it”.

She added, “And unfortunately, there are people like that and he has lifted them up”.

“She gave an entire speech about how the alt right movement is using his campaign to advance its hate movement”, Merrill tweeted.

Hillary even punctuated her attack on Americans by saying that “some of those folks – they are irredeemable, but thankfully they are not America”.

Clinton, who was introduced by celebrities Laverne Cox and Barbra Streisand, went on to describe the “other basket”.

In the new poll, Trump’s supporters show signs of being slightly more engaged: 46% say they’re very enthusiastic about their candidate, compared to 33% of Clinton’s supporters; 93% of pro-Trump registered voters say they’re certain to vote, while 80% of Clinton’s supporters say they’re certain to vote.

Clinton said at a fundraiser Friday that “half” of Trump supporters were “deplorables” for mainstreaming the views of white nationalists, later apologizing for the proportional estimate but sticking to the assertion that Trump was clearly attracting such support. “I regret saying ‘half” – that was wrong”, she wrote. But she said many of his actions have been “deplorable” and promised she “won’t stop calling out bigotry and racist rhetoric in this campaign”.

Sunday’s episode is a godsend for his campaign, which is otherwise sketchy and in disarray, with multiple polls showing Clinton ahead and an occasional one showing Trump getting close.

Clinton had earlier divided Trump’s supporters into “two big baskets”, what she called “the deplorables”, in an interview with Channel 2 News Israel that aired on Thursday.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks during a rally, Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, in Pensacola, Fla. “What a awful thing she said about so many great Americans!” “We already know, from experienced intelligence and counter-terrorism experts, that leaders within ISIS are rooting for his victory”, Clinton said.

Hillary Clinton, in true Clinton fashion, apologized for only one word of her “basket of deplorables” accusation.

“The obvious takeaway from these numbers is that Donald Trump has staged a comeback from his post-Democratic convention lows, especially in Pennsylvania and OH”, said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac poll.

Clinton then pivoted and tried to characterize the other half of Trump’s supporters, putting them in “that other basket” and saying they need understanding and empathy.
