It called India’s stance a “blatant attempt” to deflect attention from human rights abuses in Kashmir.
The United States, United Kingdom and France have all condemned the attack and said they stand with India in its fight against “terrorism”.
The attack comes as violent protests against Indian rule in the disputed region continue, with a curfew imposed. It was one of the deadliest terror attacks on security forces in recent times in the state.
The meeting was attended, among others, by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Intelligence agency chiefs and Home and defence Secretaries. Asked how China sees the impact of the escalation of violence on its $46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, Lu said, “The building of the corridor is to drive the development of the regional countries”. No group has said it carried out the deadly raid.
Kashmiri villagers gather outside the Indian army base which was attacked Sunday by suspected militants at Uri, Indian controlled Kashmir, Monday, Sept. 19, 2016.
Taking a pot shot at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Surjewala said: “In last two years, foreign policy vis-a-vis Pakistan has been used to promote Modi’s image as a “muscular” man”.
Relations between the nuclear-armed neighbors have been on edge since a New-Year attack on Pathankot air force base in Punjab, near the border with Pakistan, in which seven uniformed men were killed.
“Pakistan is training, abetting and funding terrorists who want to cripple India’s economy”.
The attack has caused a great deal of anger in India, with many calling on the government to “strike back”.
If required at global bodies, sources said, India will present all actionable evidence against Pakistan.
Army today instituted an inquiry into one of the bloodiest attacks in years on its camp at Uri as preliminary investigations suggested the terrorists had entered the area at least a day before mounting the brazen assault.
Gunfire and explosions were heard for several hours. All of the attackers were killed in the encounter with Indian forces. People are storming the streets saying “Pakistan Zindabad” out in the open.
