Police said two assailants fled in a auto. He declined to describe what led to the dispute, but added: “At this point we have no reason to believe Mr. Stone is in any kind of trouble”.

Stone was stabbed repeatedly in the upper body while out with four friends early Thursday.

[Photo by Laurent Viteur/Getty Images]It appears, according to a Pentagon official, that Spencer Stone was stabbed in a fight near a bar approximately 12.45 a.m., although full details are still to be determined. The verbal altercation continued, turned into a “fist altercation” and ended when Stone was stabbed on city streets, Bernard said.

He and his friends, Anthony Sadler and Alek Skarlatos, received a hero’s welcome when they returned to their hometown of Sacramento in late August. “He is now in stable condition”.

Kirk says Stone was conscious when he arrived at the hospital.

Stone was one of five men who officials say stopped a gunman from attacking passengers of an Amsterdam-to-Paris train in August.

Ayoub El-Khazzani, a man with ties radical Islam, had boarded the train with a Kalashnikov rifle, a pistol and a box cutter.

Sacramento police said a knife assault took place Wednesday night but could not immediately confirm the victim’s identity.

Police said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the assault.

“There’s no motive. It appears to be a random deal.”

No one has been arrested in connection with the stabbing, police said.

France awarded all three men the Legion of Honor, the country’s highest honor, following the incident. Many of you know that he risked his life weeks ago to save many lives during a French train attack.

Alex Skarlatos, who has found a new calling as a contestant on Dancing With The Stars, and who is, ironically from Roseburg, Oregon, where 9 students were killed by a gunman, tweeted his support for his friend, Spencer.
