One of the individuals contracted the illness in 2015 while traveling in South America. “How does this affect my unborn child?” said Dr. Garcia.

Health officials tell us that they aren’t sure how this virus was transmitted through sexual contact, but they are working on how to find a solution.
Current information about possible sexual transmission of Zika is based on reports of three cases, according to the U.S. CDC.
Over the past two weeks, the CDC says testing for Zika is improving.
A spokesman says the United Nations secretary-general supports the United Nations human rights chief’s call for an urgent review of laws restricting access to sexual and reproductive health services amid the Zika outbreak.
Some pregnant women infected with the virus have given birth to babies with microcephaly, a disorder which leads to severe developmental issues and can be fatal.
“The key point is that women should have the choice and (make) informed decisions”, she said.
Sexual transmission of Zika is believed to be rare. Researchers do not yet know how long the virus stays in semen.
“People have already shown that it can spread to bodily fluids other than blood, so this isn’t entirely surprising”, he said.
Florida’s history of fighting off mosquito-borne outbreaks puts the state in perhaps better position than most when it comes to the Zika virus.
During a teleconference on Friday, Dr. Frieden said because Zika is so new, they are “quite literally dicovering more about it each day”. Other infections and conditions can lead to the syndrome.
After confirming a sexually transmitted case of Zika virus in Dallas County, Texas, the CDC released guidelines calling for men who have traveled to affected areas to use condoms during sex with a pregnant partner or abstain from sex for the duration of the pregnancy.
The disease starts with a mosquito bite and normally causes little more than a fever and rash.
World Health Organization earlier this week declared the spike in serious birth defects an worldwide emergency and launched a global Zika response unit.
Now Brazilian officials are saying that pregnant women should think twice before giving a kiss especially to strangers.

The Zika virus is primarily transmitted through the bite of infected mosquitoes and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a travel advisory for affected countries in Central and South America, the Caribbean and Samoa and Cape Verde. Friday, the agency added guidelines for pregnant women who fear they have been exposed to the virus but have no symptoms.
