US cinemas step up security for NWA biopic screenings
The film is no only about the group it’s about the history of the police brutality against African-Americans in Compton. This movie is a live wire that says as much about today as it does the late 80s-early 90s era it depicts.

He discussed the importance of N.W.A – which also featured MC Ren, DJ Yella and the late Easy-E – in the way people pushed boundaries.
Rap had been around for a while, but NWA was the first group that really scared the white establishment with songs like “Boyz-n-the-Hood” and “F*** tha Police”, which took stories of the inner-city into the suburbs of America. The movie sounds like it might be too long at two hours and a half, but it held my interest at that length and my friend Tracey Bagley agrees. That is not the case with Straight Outta Compton, as it lives up to the hype and actually exceeded my expectations.
Levaughn Alexander said the movie was a thrilling experience, but not a violent one. It gets to a point where you want it to end.
For Jonathan Mannion, the photographer who shot the original images for the “Straight Outta” Beats campaign, it’s like seeing the entire world repost photos in his photographic style. O’Shea Jackson Jr. not only looks exactly like his dad, but he somehow managed to capture his essence as well.
CP: You mentioned Dr. Dre and, before your father’s passing, he famous made amends with Dre and Ice Cube. Jerry was responsible for making the group a success, but also played a major role in their ultimate demise. The most impressive acting comes from Jason Mitchell as Eazy-E.
Directed by F. Gary Gray, the film has received positive reviews, with an 87 percent “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Some of his better-known movies are “Law Abiding Citizen” with Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler and “The Italian Job” with Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron.

Dr. Dre has worked with Kendrick extensively-he brought him on to feature on several tracks on Compton, his recently released soundtrack to the film. “Or if not we’re going to go get it somewhere else.’ So he stepped up, and I’m glad he did”. But Kendrick still seemed a bit nervous – starstruck, even – when he sat down to interview Dre and the other surviving members of N.W.A for Billboard magazine. It is rated R for language throughout, strong sexuality/nudity, violence and drug use.
