US Democratic National Committee chief resigns in wake of leaked emails
If so, that revelation could cost Sanders support among Southern Baptists, the email said. Sanders’ name is not mentioned in the note. Here’s the thing. Bernie Sanders ran a great campaign. “You resign. It’s an honorary position”, Springer said.

But Fealk also says: “I’m really annoyed….” I haven’t decided yet.
Discussions between the two camps prompted Sanders to send emails and text messages to supporters asking them not to protest. When Sanders took the stage as the night’s final speaker, he acknowledged that many of his supporters were disappointed. It’s doubtful the superdelegates will change their mind between now and then, but if they do, chaos could quickly ensue. And Clinton will be introduced by her daughter, Chelsea.
Segerblom said he sensed how difficult it was for a candidate who fought so hard for the nomination.
“She’s using her convention speech to praise a deal by the party’s rules committee that establishes a commission” to review the nominating process.
Another Iowa delegate for Sanders, Ingrid Olson of Council Bluffs, called the Clinton campaign’s decision to hire Wasserman Schultz a “slap in the face”. And [outgoing Democratic National Party chairwoman] Debbie Wasserman Schultz, you know, all this is going on.
“Clinton’s campaign hoped the nighttime line-up would overshadow a tumultuous start to the four-day convention”.
Trump gloated at the Democrats’ opening day disorder. Now every possibility exists for unplanned and unwanted excitement to occur at the Democratic National Convention as well.
The Vermont senator says it is of the “utmost importance” that this be explained to the state delegations.
“Our credibility as a movement will be damaged by booing, turning of backs, walking out or other similar displays”, Sanders said in an email to the delegates, calling it a “personal courtesy” to him.
First lady Michelle Obama stepped into the presidential election Monday with a forceful, impassioned defense of Hillary Clinton, casting her as the only candidate who can be trusted as a role model for the nation’s children. The move was confirmed in an email to NPR, which stated that Rep. Marcia Fudge would be taking Schultz’s place.
But also cheers – from Clinton’s supporters. At one point, protesters shouted, “Shame!”
Trump dismissed the suggestion in a tweet: “The joke in town is that Russian Federation leaked the disastrous DNC emails, which should never have been written (stupid), because Putin likes me”.
During the primary battle, Sanders and his supporters accused both the party and Wasserman Schultz of putting their thumb on the scale for Clinton and these emails may indicate support for those allegations.
“Brothers and sisters, this is the real world that we live in”, Sanders said as he tried to quiet the crowd.
Trump’s campaign has laughed off suggestions that the Russians may be trying to influence the election in the Republican’s favor.
On “This Week” today, Sanders reiterated his call for Wasserman Schultz to be replaced. The post will be temporarily held by Vice Chairwoman Donna Brazile.
As of early Sunday afternoon, Wasserman Schultz hadn’t commented.
“It is naïveté to think that party officials should not have an opinion on these matters”. The contretemps threatened turmoil on the eve of the party convention in Philadelphia, created to show unity.
But after her remarks, when she stepped out of the room to chat with reporters, delegate Caleb Humphrey of Madrid broke into the conversation. That’s a joke on the Nevada GOP chairman’s verbal slip at last week’s Republican National Convention, where he said Las Vegas was the “most entertaining capital”. In it, the party’s chief financial officer – an ally of Wasserman Schultz – indicated interest in raising questions about whether Sanders lacked active involvement with his Jewish heritage.
Rawlings-Blake serves as secretary of the DNC.
“I know that electing Hillary Clinton as our next president is critical for America’s future”, Wasserman Schultz said. Clinton haws chosen Sen.
“She wasn’t anyone’s first choice for chair”, said a veteran Democratic operative. They allow anyone to spout anything, and they don’t make them validate their own claims before airing it. They don’t research anything about Democrats but hire private investigators to go after Republicans.

While Mrs. Obama has often avoided overt politics during her almost eight years in the White House, her frustration with Trump’s rise was evident.
