US deploys more Patriot missiles in South Korea
Five were allowed to return to Japan the same year, and North Korea says the others died or never entered the North.

South Korea’s President Park Geun-hye has capitulated to President Obama’s massive pressure to end her collaboration with China and Russia (“Korea’s Eurasian Vision” she called it), and under the guise of joining Obama’s belligerence toward North Korea, essentially joined Obama’s war plans against China.
At the Kaesong industrial zone, the result of a historic inter-Korean summit between late South Korean President Kim Dae-jung and late DPRK leader Kim Jong-Il, 124 South Korean companies had run factories and had hired about 54 000 DPRK workers.
North Korea froze South Korean assets at the park, the total value of which Seoul estimates at 1.01 trillion won ($841 million).
“Despite resource shortages and aging equipment, North Korea’s large, forward-positioned military can initiate an attack against the ROK with little or no warning, minimizing the logistics strain it would incur if deploying forces from further away”, the report said.
In the meantime, the USA military command in South Korea said an air defence battery unit from Fort Bliss, Texas, has been conducting ballistic missile training using the Patriot system at Osan Air Base near Seoul.
The U.S. worries that North Korea will be able to eventually put a nuclear warhead on a long-range missile.
Furthermore, if America’s allies in the region, such as Japan and South Korea, increasingly doubt whether they can count on US security guarantees, they may feel it necessary to go it alone, building their own indigenous nuclear arsenals and igniting a nuclear arms race in one of the world’s most important geostrategic regions.
Beijing and Moscow are sensitive to the possibility of THAAD in South Korea; critics say the system could help USA radar spot missiles in other countries.
Russian Federation and China have expressed concerns about the potential deployment of Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD). Following North Korea’s firing of a long-range missile on Sunday, Seoul and Washington chose to formally discuss the system’s deployment in the South.
A senior South Korean defence ministry official said Friday detailed discussions on THAAD deployment would kick off as early as next week.
In response to the nuclear test, South Korean officials made the executive decision to blast K-pop band, Big Bang’s chart-topping song “Bang Bang Bang” on the speakers placed within the South’s demilitarized zone with North Korea.
The move comes after the Pyongyang said it launched a Kwangmyongsong-4 Earth observation satellite into orbit on Sunday and last month tested what it claimed was a hydrogen bomb.

“Unpardonable is the puppet group’s act of totally suspending the operation in (Kaesong), finding fault with the DPRK’s H-bomb test and launch of a satellite”, the North’s Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea said, referring to South Korea.
