But billionaire Mr Trump has declined to release his, arguing that his tax returns for the past several years are being audited.
Indiana Governor Mike Pence, Trump’s running mate, has also not released tax returns.
Clinton has been highly critical of Trump for his failure to disclose personal financial information, hinting it is because he does not pay a very high percentage of his income in taxes and that he may not be as wealthy as he says he is. “What is he trying to hide?”.
That includes Clinton’s campaign, which released a web video Friday speculating what lies in the withheld tax returns. The Clintons over the years have made public details of their income taxes as far back as 1977, the campaign said.
“Mitt-Romney-finally-releases-his-tax-returns” class=”local_link” target=”_blank”>playbook against Mitt Romney in 2012. “A canvass of 200-plus charities, all of them with connections to the mogul, turned up just one small gift of less than $10,000 between 2009 and this May (when Trump, under pressure, made good on a $1 million pledge he had made to help veterans)”.
King said he supports Trump’s proposals on border security, a three-tiered tax plan and placing a moratorium on new federal regulations.
Trump’s critics, including 2012 Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and other fellow Republicans, have said his refusal raises questions about his net worth, his charitable contributions, his business dealings and various other ties, including with Russian Federation. Others have suggested that the tax documents would reveal business interests that could be problematic if he were elected.
And the couple also faced 2 of the tax bills imposed on high-income earners, the Net Investment Income Tax (NIIT) and the additional Medicare tax. The campaign said the Kaines had paid an effective Virginia tax rate of 5.4 percent, for a total tax rate of 25.7 percent. For three other years – 1978, 1979 and 1984 – records show Trump paid no income taxes. Experts often don’t include them when calculating federal income tax burdens.
But that’s not uncommon for real estate developers, who have a number of ways to avoid taxes, via legitimate deductions that aren’t available to people who work for a company.
The Democratic presidential candidate paid an effective federal tax rate of 34.2% past year.
She put out her most recent eight years of tax filings last summer, along with her health records.
Bill Clinton’s office previously said he had ended his consulting work with Laureate a year ago. He also reported $1.58 million in consulting fees.
