That means any potential dispute between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton resulting from the election would unfold state by state.

Trump is widely seen as needing victories in both states in order to secure the 270 electoral votes required to win the White House. They’ve also gone north to MI and New Hampshire – two states Democrats have won in recent cycles but could flip this year. He has been marginally ahead in OH and Arizona – but Clinton’s campaign are hopeful of pulling off a surprise win in the latter, despite not backing a Democrat in two decades. However, he sidestepped questions about the level of Hispanic vote Trump needs to win the presidency. “The theft of North Carolina jobs will end”.
So, in a bipartisan fashion, the two voters are able to deliver more votes to Mrs Clinton in a swing state where it matters more. New Hampshire’s four and Nevada’s six would get him there.
Fighting for every single vote at stake, Democratic nominee Clinton and her Republican rival Trump made their last-minute forceful arguments before the American people with their own vision for the world’s largest economy. An even bigger problem for Trump is that the divisive nature of his campaign is allowing his opponent to expand the electoral map.
She spent millions to create a similarly robust voter turnout operation nationwide, with a focus on the country’s battleground states. Four polls show Clinton winning nationally 3 points.
Nov 8, 2016- Americans are heading to the polls to choose a new president after one of the most rancorous election campaigns the country has seen.
There remains unease however, with maverick tycoon Trump having rallied from a double-digit deficit in some polls to within striking distance of Clinton, while analysts highlighted Britain’s shock European Union exit vote.
Appearing looser than she had at rallies earlier in the day, Clinton took the stage to deafening cheers.
But the campaign has been bruising – she has been dogged by allegations that she put USA secrets at risk on her private e-mail server while at the State Department and the race remains perilously close in a handful of key states.
Polls close in MI at 8 p.m., with early results likely showing whether Trump has a chance at pulling off an upset win. His campaign and the Republican National Committee, which is supplementing his ground game, understand this. After the 2012 race, the RNC warned that the party needed to do more to court Latino voters.
In other words, 51.1 percent of the two-party votes counted on election night 2012 were for Obama. Donald Trump vowed not to make it easy. Clinton told cheering supporters that their “work will be just beginning” after Election Day. If she succeeds, it would limit Trump’s strengths to rural areas. But Trump enjoys a 30 point lead among likely white voters. It’s a must win – he has no path without its 29 electoral votes.
We’ll know soon enough who won.
Clinton deployed President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama, former President Bill Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden.
What I’m trying to say is this: America, get a grip.
North Carolina, one of the first states to report results tonight, might provide clues to the outcome.
Clinton is banking in part on high turnout – particularly among Obama’s young, diverse coalition of voters – to carry her over the finish line today. “It felt more like a reality show and parody”, Obama said.
They are obviously secondary to the presidential poll, but they can have a major impact on the ease with which either Clinton or Trump can make good on their campaign pledges, for instance whether the United States keeps to its climate promises and if it is going to continue discussing a free trade deal with the EU.
Midway through his final day of travel Monday, Trump praised his supporters for having created a “movement”.
Mr Trump said that if he used what he views as inappropriate language in Beyonce and Jay Z’s music, he would face execution though “reinstitution of the electric chair”.
‘The political establishment that is trying to stop us is the same group responsible for our disastrous trade deals, massive illegal immigration and economic and foreign policies that have bled our country dry, ‘ Trump says. Half the country thinks Clinton is a crook, and the other half thinks Trump is a racist and misogynist.
Beyond a recount, anyone can challenge a state’s election process in court.
