US Elections: Donald Trump aims to secure 1400 delegates before July convention

Ted Cruz (R-TX) are hoping to keep their rival for the nomination Donald Trump from winning all 95 of that state’s delegates.

The next primaries will be held on April 26 in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. The question for Cruz: With him and Kasich still stepping on each others’ toes in the race, can the Stop Trump effort marshal enough force to definitely ensure that Trump doesn’t make it across the finish line before July? “Now all he can do is be a spoiler, never a nice thing to do”. Trump, 69, predicted some “amazing weeks” ahead for his campaign. Ted Cruz told reporters at the Republican National Committee Meeting Wednesday that Donald Trump is a “niche candidate” who will have problems in upcoming primaries west of the Mississippi River.

Concluded Cruz: “What is clear today is that we are headed to a contested convention”. “Nobody is able to reach 1,237 [delegates]”.

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have both won overwhelmingly in the NY primary. The billionaire businessman is planning several visits to the state, which awards its delegates by 53 congressional districts. Unfortunately for Sanders, more than half of New York’s Democratic primary voters live in and around New York City, where Clinton generally improved compared to 2008.

Though he didn’t specifically say Trump’s name, when asked if he would support Trump, Walker answered in the affirmative. He sent campaign advisers to the party meeting in Florida that began on Wednesday.

Re: “Donald Trump, Colorado, and the GOP nomination ,” April 19 letters to the editor.

Sanders was estimated to spend about $6.8 million on ads in NY in advance of Tuesday’s primary, by far the most of any candidate in the Republican and Democratic primaries, the report said. The total of 1,905 has Clinton nearing the 2,383 delegates needed to win the nomination. It’s a powerful argument that will grow stronger if he wins more contests in the way he won NY. Bernie Sanders, from Vermont, has been granted a permit to host a rally on the New Haven Green on Sunday at 7 p.m., but his campaign has not confirmed the appearance.

As much as I agree with many Republican voters’ frustrations over the “arbitrary” and “undemocratic” rules established by the GOP to nominate the party’s presidential candidate, such accusations deserve a level of clarity.
