The Treasury said in a statement that North Korea’s government uses its entire financial system to engage in money laundering and the procurement of equipment for its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs, as well as other illicit businesses.

China in the recent past distanced itself from North Korea’s nuclear weapons programme which has triggered worldwide sanctions on the reclusive nation. “But Pyongyang is hoping that either he’ll be elected (and follows through on his pledges) or that his pronouncements will change the political game in the United States and influence how the Democratic Party and mainstream Republicans view Korean issues”, Mr Feffer said.
Daniel Russel, the top American diplomat for East Asia, said on Tuesday that high-level talks between the U.S. and China in Beijing next week would provide an opportunity to “game out” how to pressure the North to agree to negotiations on the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula.
“This kind of video released while vice chairman (of the North Korean ruling party’s central committee) Ri Su-yong is visiting China seems pretty intentional”, Kim Yong-hyun, a professor of North Korean studies at Dongguk University, said.
“China has a key interest in propping up North Korea”.
The media outlet said that promising to resolve issues on the Korean peninsula through “negotiations and not war” was the best option for America, which it said is “living every minute and second on pins and needles in fear of a nuclear strike” by North Korea.
Its frequently strident rhetoric also often threatens nuclear strikes against South Korea and the United States.
United States and South Korean military officials have reportedly confirmed the failure of a recent missile launch attempt by North Korea. “Firstly it doesn’t want a lot of refugee flows, and second of all it doesn’t want the North Korean government to collapse and have the situation that happened in Germany, where Korea is ruled by the government that’s now in the South, which is allied with the U.S.”. The North Korean government insists that multilateral discussions are not helpful.

The president welcomed the North Korean delegation, which came to communicate developments from the Workers’ Party congress in early May. Deliveries of rocket and jet fuel to North Korea were also prohibited, along with any types of weapons and luxury goods.
