US officials eye links between weekend bombings
An explosion that injured 29 people in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood was an “intentional act”, but there so far are no concrete links to worldwide terrorist groups, New York Gov.

“So that we know, but we need to know who is responsible to get them into custody”.
Saturday’s explosion shook New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood and sent panicked people scrambling for cover.
“We know it’s a very serious incident, but we have a lot more work to do to be able to say what kind of motivation was behind this”, Mayor Bill de Blasio told reporters.
Thirty minutes before the terrorist attack on the Uri army base in India, an explosion described by an official as “terrorist” rocked the city Saturday night injuring 29 people in the midst of a tense election campaign and as the United Nations prepared for its annual summit.
Tim Kaine, the Democratic vice presidential candidate, said on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday that the NY blast “raises the stakes on the need to be really, really smart in dealing with challenges like this, both with the law enforcement community but also to make sure we’re doing what we can to stop any lone wolf attacks in the United States”.
Hours earlier, less than 160km south in New Jersey, a pipe bomb exploded in a trash can on the route of a Marine Corps run before the start of the race, causing no injuries but forcing its cancellation. “We want New Yorkers to be confident that NY is up and running and we’re doing everything we can” to keep them safe.
The Manhattan bomb was just one in a serious of disturbing bomb findings in the area, as police in New Jersey were busy investigating an early bomb detonation at the Seaside Park.
The attacker has been named as 22-year-old Dahir A. Adan, according to two Somali community leaders who are in direct contact with his family.
“In the course of rendering one of the devices safe, it detonated”.
There are some similarities between the bombs in NY and New Jersey.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump briefly addressed the bombing in NY during a rally on Saturday in Colorado, assuring the crowd that he was going to be “very tough” on terrorists if elected, though not specifying how.
Shortly after the explosion, police found an unexploded device in a pressure cooker about four blocks away.
Chris Christie (R) said Sunday that an explosion before a charity run was clearly an act of terrorism.
Senior law enforcement sources say officials are looking into whether anyone else may have been involved. Both New Jersey Transit and Amtrak warned of delays following the incident. Some 135 heads of state or government are expected to attend the event, and city officials said they had bolstered an already heavy security force with 1,000 more uniformed police officers and National Guard members.
“In many of these cases, we don’t know until two, three or four days later whether or not there is a terrorist link”, warned New York Congressman Peter King in a CBS television interview. “What was it? We do not know”, he added, calling on residents to be vigilant. Both said Monday that appears to be changing.
Update: Sept. 18, according to CNN, the bomb squad is still searching for more explosive devices. The discovery of Tannerite may be important as authorities probe whether the two New York City devices and the pipe bomb at the Jersey shore are connected.

NY went on full alert, deploying almost 1,000 extra state police and National Guardsmen to airports, bus terminals and subway stations as President Barack Obama arrived in the city ahead of Tuesday’s opening of the UN General Assembly.
