US OK with new European Union labeling rule for West Bank exports

The killing of a 28-year-old Palestinian man by Israeli forces during a raid on al-Ahli hospital in the West Bank city of Hebron early this morning may amount to an extrajudicial execution, Amnesty worldwide has said.

Ten Israelis have been killed since October 1, while 80 Palestinians have been shot dead by Israeli security forces, including 44 people whom Israel claimed were carrying out attacks.

Meanwhile, a Hebron hospital said a Palestinian was shot and killed in clashes with Israeli security forces near the city on Friday.

During the undercover raid, Shalaldah’s cousin, Abdullah Azzam Shalaldah, 28, was shot and killed while coming out of a bathroom in the hospital ward.

The military said the attacker fled the scene and that troops were searching the area.

Israel’s military said hundreds of Palestinians threw rocks and rolled burning tires at soldiers stationed near Hebron who opened fire at “the main instigators”.

The footage also shows what appears to be an Israeli agent dressed as a Palestinian woman, and other Israeli forces dressed as Palestinian Muslim men, wearing keffiyehs and appearing to have fake beards. Paramedics arrived to find two Israelis critically injured. The Israeli forces then threatened another patient at gunpoint, handcuffed another relative to a bed and then left the hospital with Azzam Shalaldah in a wheelchair. They displayed no signs of life and we were forced to pronounce them dead at the scene.

In an unrelated incident, a Palestinian was shot dead during clashes on Friday with the army in Hebron, Palestinian medics said.

Israeli media identified the victims as Yaacov Litman, 40, and 18-year-old Natanel.

The reports said they were on their way to celebrate the Jewish Sabbath when they were attacked.

Since the beginning of October there has been a dramatic increase in the number of attacks by Palestinians on Israeli civilians, soldiers and police.

Four of the Israeli fatalities were murdered in shooting attacks outside Jerusalem.

It was the most serious attack on Israelis in almost a month and sparked a manhunt, with soldiers backed by air units deploying en masse in the neighbouring Palestinian communities of Yatta and As Samou, an AFP journalist said.

Mourners carry the body of Abdullah al-Shalalda, killed by Israeli gunmen disguised as Palestinians in a Hebron hospital in the early hours of 12 November, during his funeral that same day. He said it ran contrary to “any human norm” and instructed the foreign ministry to file a harsh protest to the Red Cross, which oversees the Red Crescent. Hebron, the largest West Bank city, has been a particular flash point in the current round of Israeli-Palestinian violence.
