Four-time Olympian and gold medalist, Ryan Lochte took “full responsibility” for embellishing the incident in Rio that brought global outrage.
Like Lochte, Melaragno said the armed guards at the gas station forced the four us swimmers to pay for damages instead of calling police, which, he argued, was itself a crime.
Lochte took “full responsibility” Saturday for the incident in Rio, telling NBC News that he “over-exaggerated that story”.

On Sunday, the U.S.
Lochte said that he hopes to continue his Olympic swimming career, if officials allow it.
“It’s a huge honor”, said the 4-foot-8 Biles, though she noted she’s a bit anxious about handling the weight of the flag.

What remains to be seen is whether Lochte will continue to get a pass for his behavior or if he’ll have to take more responsibility for his actions.
USA Swimming and the International Olympic Committee could sanction Lochte.
“The behavior of these athletes is not acceptable, nor does it represent the values of Team USA or the conduct of the vast majority of its members”, the United States Olympic Committee said in a statement Thursday.
DeFrantz made no effort to hide her disdain for the incident.
In addition to the swimmers, Swedish tourists were briefly abducted when they visited a slum, Portugal’s visiting education minister was robbed at knife point, bullets flew into the equestrian centre and a Games bus was attacked with stones. “They’re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people”. But this time he’s claiming to tell the truth.
