US Open 2016: Serena Williams Reached Landmark Women’s Record Of 307
Williams appears likely to edge ahead of Federer on Monday when she faces Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan in the round of 16.

Top-seeded Serena Williams is feeling and playing like Wonder Woman – wearing neon pink sleeves – and hasn’t lost her serve in three matches here. She compiled a 24-5 total edge in winners in a match that lasted just one hour. “Today, my opponent tried to play aggressively, but I played that game just a little bit better than her”.
World number one Serena Williams set a record for the number of women’s Grand Slam victories as she cruised into the fourth round of the US Open by beating Sweden’s Johanna Larsson at Flushing Meadows in New York City.
However, it is the record she shares with Steffi Graf, that of 22 Grand Slam singles titles that is uppermost in Williams’ mind, even if she is trying not to discuss it too much.
Serena Williams versus Venus Williams could happen in the semifinals of the 2016 US Open in Flushing Meadows, New York.
Serena has now surpassed the Martina Navratilova for winning the Grand Slam for the massive telly of 307 by a woman.
“I feel OK”, she said when asked to grade her performance in week one.
Many of Murray’s troubles against Paolo Lorenzi were of his own making as he allowed the energetic Italian journeyman to make him look ordinary through two sets before pulling himself together to win 7-6 (4), 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.
Women’s fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska advanced easily, dispatching France’s Caroline Garcia 6-2, 6-3 to set up a meeting with Croatian Ana Konjuh, a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 victor over American Varvara Lepchenko. But there still are two British players remaining in the men’s draw, Murray and Kyle Edmund, who faces No. 1 Novak Djokovic of Serbia on Sunday.
The third round of the US Open concluded on Saturday, with Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka among those to advance in NY.
There were wins for Juan Martin del Potro, Kei Nishikori, Dominic Thiem and Illya Marchenko on Saturday. Williams argued that disparities persisted between the way male and female athletes were perceived and paid.
It definitely feels solid, she said. “I also believe that, as a woman, we have still a lot to do and a lot to be going forward”.
The win against Larsson was Williams’ 307th career victory in Grand Slam events. “I’m really proud that I could win it and come back from 3-1 down in the third set”.
From Johanna to Johanna, but this time we talk about the Briton Konta. This includes the preparation of derivative works of, or the incorporation of such content into other works.
Konta admits that she is still recovering from the “traumatic experience” of her second-round match, when she collapsed on court, was hyper-ventilating and needed ice treatment. Laura Siegemund scores her final point of the match in the sixth game, as she drops the following two games to Venus Williams, to give the US Open sixth seed the third round victory. Halep will play the No. 11 seed Carla Suárez Navarro in the fourth round.
There were some concerns about Serena’s sore right shoulder.
“Tennis has made huge, huge improvements”, she continued.
Her first serve averaged 105 miles per hour against Larsson and found its mark 60 per cent of the time.
To that end, Larsson covered an average of 5.2 feet per point, while Serena was at 4.2 feet as she dictated the action throughout.

“I knew at Wimbledon that I wanted to get there”. After ending 2011 ranked 103rd in the world, she didn’t make it past the third round in a major the next three years.
